iPhone 16 demos show off Capture button and new camera bump

iPhone 16 may get new features like a shooting button

A number of small design changes will appear in the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro, and some mockups used by case makers give the first glimpse of what's to come.

Dummy blocks are industry tools used to ensure prototype cases fit future iPhone models. However, there is no way to know if a mannequin is genuine, and some case manufacturers end up with incorrect examples.

Sonny Dixon posted photos of mockups of the iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max on the X. The metal blocks show off many of the rumored features expected from these products.

The iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max are almost identical to their iPhone 15 counterparts, with the exception of the Shoot button. These models are expected to have a slightly larger display, but it's hard to tell from the photos.

iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus have a new vertical camera bump similar to the iPhone X, but the flash is located outside the bump. The Action button and Shoot button are also visible on these models.

A vertical camera bump allows base models to capture spatial video for Apple Vision Pro. The Capture button on all four models is expected to be mechanical and used for the Camera app.

Apple will announce the iPhone 16 lineup during an event in September 2024. They are expected to feature next-generation chipsets with updated Apple AI capabilities and improved camera performance.
