Google may charge Apple users for artificial intelligence tools in iOS 18

Google may introduce paid premium AI features

Rumors suggest Google wants to offer premium generative features artificial intelligence as Apple is said to be planning an AI App Store for iOS 18. Rumors and speculation about tech giants come in waves, but if you pay close enough attention, patterns and intentions can cut through the noise. Google has been struggling to find new ways to monetize its business as AI tools are ad-agnostic, and the company may have found a solution with the help of Apple.

Anonymous sources in an interview with the Financial Times claim that Google may offer paid premium features based on its generative artificial intelligence. The move will mark the first time Google has charged for exclusivity on a core platform feature, beyond ad-free options.

There's not much to this news. He suggests that Google may add AI-powered search features to its premium subscription services.

However, the monetization path is not clear. Google wants to keep its core search tool free and ad-supported, so it has no plans to launch search without ads. So charging for individual tools or enabling premium features for subscribers may be an option.

There is one monetization option – through Apple. Apple is rumored to be in talks with Google to give iOS 18 users access to Gemini.

Another but similar rumor suggests that Apple is working on creating an AI App Store. Customers can go to the App Store and pay for access to premium AI features such as Gemini search or other AI tools provided by Google.

All of these rumors may be separate, but they seem to be connected to Apple's overall strategy. The company may be working on offering smaller models for mobile devices while outsourcing LLMs to larger existing companies like Google.

You won't have to wait long to find out. Apple will reveal its artificial intelligence strategy during WWDC on June 10.
