iPhone 15 Used To Film Major Sequel '28 Years Later' And The Trailer Is Impressive

“Shot on iPhone” isn’t a new tagline for Apple, but it’s about to have its biggest reveal yet. Next summer’s blockbuster 28 Years Later was filmed entirely on the iPhone 15 Pro Max, and the first trailer looks fantastic.

28 Years Later Trailer Shows the Potential for iPhone Filmmaking

28 Years Later is the highly anticipated sequel to the 2002 hit 28 Days Later. And, according to WIRED, the film was shot entirely on an iPhone.

The film is a Hollywood blockbuster, scheduled for wide release on June 20, 2025. Directed by Oscar winner Danny Boyle, the film stars the following actors:

  • Jodie Comer
  • Aaron Taylor-Johnson
  • Ralph Fiennes
  • probably Cillian Murphy too

And yes, Boyle used an iPhone 15 Pro Max (well, several of them) to shoot all of this. Not even the latest and greatest iPhone 16 Pro.

Shooting on an iPhone seems like a good fit for a zombie thriller like this, where the desired look isn't necessarily the most flawless.

That said, the trailer is incredibly impressive. It doesn't feel like an “iPhone movie,” it just feels like a major Hollywood film, period.
