Now that the Apple Vision Pro has launched in the US, Apple has released additional documentation to support the device, including information on how to connect and charge the Vision Pro battery.
Notably, the Apple document states that the external battery also powers the Apple Vision Pro when you're not wearing it, allowing the device to sync your email, photos and more. If you don't wear the headset for 24 hours, it turns off automatically.
To check if Apple Vision Pro is on when you're not wearing it, select up the device. When the power is turned on, the indicator on the power cord will light up briefly. If Apple Vision Pro turns off, press and hold the top button for three seconds to turn it back on. After about a minute, Apple Vision Pro will beep to indicate it's ready to use, and the light on the power cord will turn solid.
Apple recommends disconnecting the battery unless you know you won't. You will be using the headset for a long time. To remove the battery from the Apple Vision Pro, users are advised to first save any open documents – since removing the battery turns off the device – and then turn the power cord counterclockwise until it is disconnected.
Additionally , Apple describes that the battery indicator tells users the battery level when first connected to a power source, moved, or tapped while charging:
- Green for a few seconds: Battery is fully charged.
- Yellow for a few seconds: Battery is less charged 100%, but it is enough to use Apple Vision Pro.
- Yellow slowly pulsing: The battery level is too low to power your Apple Vision Pro. Continue charging the battery for 10 minutes or until the battery light turns solid (not pulsating) amber when you touch it.
Apple also explains what it means when the battery light changes color when users disconnect it. from power, or when moved or pressed when it is not charging:
- Green for a few seconds: Battery is 50% charged or higher.
- Yellow for a few seconds: Battery charge level is between 1% and 49%.
- Yellow pulsates slowly: Battery charge level is too low . to power your Apple Vision Pro. Charge the battery for 10 minutes or until the light turns solid (not pulsating) amber when you touch the battery.
Apple also warns users not to drive with the battery in their back pocket. , remove the battery from a table when standing up, or let it fall between airplane seats.
According to Apple, Vision Pro batteries can last up to 2 hours with normal use, or up to 2.5 hours with normal use. Watch 2D videos on a full charge or all day long when plugged in. Apple sells additional Vision Pro battery packs for $200 each, but they are not hot-swappable.
