Xcode coding help is rumored to be Apple's early foray into generative artificial intelligence.

Xcode to get new AI-powered coding and testing tools

Rumour assessment   🤯 Likely

A new report says Apple is close to completing a suite of new AI-based tools intelligence that will help developers write code. and test applications in Xcode.

The new Xcode feature will supposedly work similarly to Microsoft's GitHub Copilot, which uses OpenAI technology to suggest code and features in real time in the code editor. GitHub Copilot is part of Microsoft's Copilot suite of AI-powered tools.

According to a Bloomberg report, the new tools will “use artificial intelligence to predict and complete blocks of code,” making the coding process easier for developers. Apple is also allegedly exploring the possibility of using AI to generate code for app testing. This process can be especially tedious.

Apple is currently encouraging its engineers to try out these features themselves before releasing them to the general public. While there is no specific timeline for these tools, sources familiar with the project indicate that it will likely be released sometime this year.

Earlier in February, Apple CEO Tim Cook said Apple was spending a “tremendous amount of time and effort” on artificial intelligence features that would be announced in the coming months.

However, Cook said Apple is not just rushing into artificial intelligence to catch up with the rest of the industry. He said Apple is looking to add artificial intelligence features — and that he found it.
