by Joe Rossignol

Apple released the first beta version of VisionOS 1.1 on Tuesday. Along with improved profiles, the update adds iMessage contact key verification to Vision Pro.

Contact verification iMessage Key is an additional security feature that allows you to manually verify who you're communicating with by comparing verification codes in person or during a phone call. The feature launched on iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch and Mac starting with iOS 17.2, iPadOS 17.2, watchOS 9.2 and macOS 14.2 last year.

iMessage Contact Key verification also includes “advanced protection” that can help prevent attackers from impersonating someone in a conversation, Apple says. This protection only applies if both parties in the iMessage conversation have enabled this feature. Apple provides more detailed information in a support document.
