The Apple Weather app crashed for a number of users, and the issue prevented iPhone or iPad owners won't be able to see the latest weather for their location.

The Weather app offers users detailed reports and forecasts for their region, as well as for regions around the world. On Wednesday, the app became unstable and stopped working at all for some users. was displaying no weather results.

Some users who tried to download weather were greeted with a blue background with the name of the place and a blank temperature. The widget in iOS and iPadOS also displayed “Weather unavailable” when it could not connect.

The issue was intermittent because it did not occur every time a user tried to access weather forecasts. Sometimes, after repeated attempts, everything worked fine, as AppleInsider discovered when testing the problem.

It is unknown how many users are affected by this issue, but there have been a significant number of posts on X (formerly Twitter) regarding this topic.

Weather app outages in iOS and iPadOS

Apple's System Status and Developer System Status pages show that the outage began around 2:10 pm PT. EST. As of 5:45 p.m. EST, the outage page showed everything was working fine.

Some users may still see issues caused by the crash, but the issue appears to be resolved.

Update June 5, 5:45 p.m. ESTThe Apple Weather outage appears to have ended, as reflected on Apple's system status page.
