A new report claims that despite overall sales decline, Apple's iPad continues to sell steadily, second only to the iPhone.
While the iPad dominates the U.S. market, its sales have been declining overall, and the latest models have reportedly failed to reverse the trend. However, Consumer Intelligence Research Partners (CIRP) says in a new report that iPad sales are largely stable.
Apple doesn’t release detailed sales data, so information like CIRP’s must come from surveys. CIRP also doesn’t provide actual sales figures, so its use of percentages alone only illustrates the differences between iPad models.
For example, the company says the iPad Pro is the dominant model in Apple’s tablet lineup. Nearly 50% of all iPads sold in the most recent quarter were iPad Pro models.
The base iPad was also a strong seller, capturing about a third of total iPad sales. However, the iPad Air’s market share has dropped significantly. The model accounted for about 13% of unit sales, down from its previous figure a year earlier, when it captured nearly a quarter of iPad sales.
While CIRP's report lacks any actual numbers, it claims to reflect sales for the quarter ending in September.
Apple itself says iPad revenue will be $6.95 billion in Q4 2024, up 7.9% from the same quarter in 2023.

Despite this growth, iPad revenue lags significantly behind the iPhone, which brought in $43.81 billion in the same period. CIRP says it's still ahead of the Mac, though.
