TimeCapsule by Elevation Lab – Battery Case AirTag, which extends battery life by increasing the time between battery replacements to ten years.
Apple's AirTag is extremely useful when it comes to tracking lost or stolen items, and there are many stories detailing how it has helped to recover personal property. However, despite being small and convenient, its battery life can be an issue.
The AirTag uses a CR2032 battery, and this cell lasts for about a year before you need to replace it. While this isn't a major issue when using it on a keychain, it can be difficult to replace it regularly if it's in a well-hidden and hard-to-reach place, like under a car.
To solve this problem, ElevationLab came up with the TimeCapsule AirTag battery case. A rectangular fiber-reinforced composite housing designed to house the main body of the AirTag and supply power to it.
Users will need to remove the battery and door from the AirTag before placing it in the housing. Along with the AirTag, the housing has space inside its 4.45-inch, 1.57-inch, and 0.75-inch body to house the two AA batteries that supply power to the AirTag.
As a result, the battery life is increased by 14 times, with a claimed lifespan of up to ten years. However, this is dependent on the batteries being of good quality and not degrading or otherwise failing over such a long period of time.
Using four CNC-machined screws to secure the case, it's also fully waterproof with an IP69 rating.
The TimeCapsule is available now from the company's store and Amazon, starting at $19.99 each. A pack of two is available for $29.99, and a pack of four is available for $39.99.
