Use iPhone as a Mic and Sing Along on Apple TV
Apple Music Sing in TVos 26 Now supports singing in your karaoke style for the iPhone, plus there is a classic visualizer effect. This is how it all works.
When Apple has opened the updated Sing Apple Music mode during the main WWDC 2025 report, this seemed a rather simple function update. However, after checking this first hand, it seems that this is much more than just a microphone function.
After the update to Tvos 26, you must immediately notice the new application icon added to the home screen. This is a badge called Sing, but all that he does is launches Apple Music to a new Sing tab.
Fortunately, you can turn off a separate icon by setting.
- Select “Settings”
- Select the applications, then Music
- Switch the Sing application to hide
to start with MIC mode, you will have to configure 2022 Apple TV 4K correctly. The micro -mode Apple Music Sing works only when using television speakers or wired audio system.
This means that if the Apple TV 4K is connected through the receiver or connected to the TV, which takes the audio through the wired or EARC audio system, everything is ready. But if you use Homepods or AirPlay speaker as constant speakers, you will have to turn off them to use the new MIC mode.
Now that it is configured, let's plunge into new functions.
Apple Music Sing with a microphone
Open Apple music, select the song, and it will open the playing screen now. In the left of the lower part of the display, there should be a group of several icons, one of which was a microphone with “+” next to it.
iPhone becomes a microphone and the Karaoke control center
by pressing that the microphone icon should stop everything that plays and show the QR code. Some users must receive a notification to join their iPhone without even scanning the QR code.
If you do not see a button with a microphone, but look at the SharePlay button with active users (1 or higher number next to the symbol), click on this and complete the SharePlay session. Only then will the microphone button appear.
As soon as everyone is connected, they will see an open video of the “continuous microphone” on their iPhone.
Everyone who does not sing will have an emoji grid to press and show reactions on TV. There is also the opportunity to manage the upcoming song of songs and add songs that they would like to sing.
people who sing will have buttons who control the song vocal volume and effects of the reverb microphone. Choose any song with texts, and you can start singing.
Apple has a dedicated section of Sing Apple Music, where playlists with songs optimized with synchronization live. It seems that any song with texts will work with the Sing function, so there is no need to adhere to this section.
Additional benefits hidden in the Apple Music Sing
Well, you have a karaoke party, but there are several additional functions if you know where to look. One of them is a classic visualizer hidden in Apple Music Sing.
the visualizer effects are available when in the microphone
this is odd, because there is nothing special in the visualizer effects, but the option appears only when the MIC mode is active. Go to the Ellipsis menu from the right side with the active microphone mode (which means that at least one user connected to their iPhone), and you will see the “visual effects” option.
Click on this, and there are four options: None, Stellar, Neon and Sparkle. My personal favorite is Neon, which slightly pulsates to the rhythm when neon triangles fly.
The effect of the visualizer will remain active if you are in the microphone. Try connecting to AirPlay or Homepods, and everything will stop.
there is a possibility that users cannot combine functions due to lack of processing power. Expect the new Apple TV 4K, which can do all this somewhere next year.
Another honorary mention is not entirely exclusive for singing Apple Music, but it will be great for karaoke. The new function of living translation leads to the choice of texts with foreign characters.
So, bring it to your favorite anime-opening or K-POP hit with a little help of novelized letters. You still need to learn a little about how syllables should be announced, but this is a lot of help.
Apple Music Sing was first discovered in 2022 as a function that rejected songs so that users can sing. It was always strange that this did not include any function of the microphone, but now it is finally here.
, I hope Apple continues to iterate according to this function. Karaoke is a very popular pastime around the world, and I would prefer to use my iPhone and Apple TV than to spend hundreds on karaoke.
