Apple Cuts MacBook Pro Speaker Repair Costs

Apple is making MacBook Pro repairs more affordable.

Apple will significantly reduce the cost of repairing the speakers in 14-inch MacBook Pro and 16-inch MacBook Pro models based on Apple Silicon, ending the long-standing need to buy an entire replacement top case.

Replacing damaged speakers in these MacBook Pro models remains tricky, but DIY repairs will be 90% cheaper than they are now. That’s entirely because stand-alone speaker repair parts will soon be available.

As such, users won’t have to pay to replace the battery, top case of the MacBook Pro, or other unrelated components. As first spotted by MacRumors, this will be the first time that MacBook Pro speakers will be directly repairable since 2015.

Apple is also expected to make parts available for order through its self-service store in the US.

Apple has also published updated repair guides. With the instructions, the right tools, and components from the repair store, users can now attempt to repair the speakers themselves.
