Apple has released a small update for iOS and iPadOS that fixes the problem in Photos app, which restored deleted images.
A week after the public release of iOS 17.5 and iPadOS 17.5, Apple has released a small update for both operating systems.
The iOS 17.5.1 and iPadOS 17.5.1 update replaces the respective 17.5 releases for each. The new builds have build number 21F90.
Among the fixes in the release there is one that appeared immediately after the distribution of updates 17.5. Users found that old photos they had deleted were suddenly available again in Photos.
Apple describes this as a rare issue involving some users' database corruption in their photo library. It's unclear how widespread this problem was.
How to update to iOS 17.5.1
Updating your iPhone is simple and does not require much user intervention. Typically, if the user has automatic updates enabled, the update will install overnight without prompting.
If for some reason the update is not installed automatically or the user wants to install it manually, this can be done through the Settings application.
- Open Settings.
- Click General.
- Click Software Update.
- The software update will appear here when it is available.
Apple tends to release iOS updates as they become available, so not everyone may get the update right away.
