The efforts of some Apple Store employees in Short Hills, New York Jersey are not was able to form a trade union as a result of a vote among workers.

Apple Store Operations Manager Short Pump Town Center John Nagy told Bloomberg that employees applied for union representation through the Communications Workers of America on April 8.

The CWA later said management at the store was engaging in illegal anti-union agitation. It subsequently filed complaints with the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB).

After union efforts were defeated in an employee vote on May 11, the CWA blamed Apple's anti-union tactics. To date, only two Apple Stores have successfully unionized.

The NLRB previously ruled that Apple engaged in anti-union practices.

This will be the third Apple Store that has failed to successfully unionize after failed votes in Atlanta and St. Louis. Apple Penn Square in Oklahoma City successfully voted to unionize but has not yet reached a collective bargaining agreement with Apple.

Meanwhile, the Apple Store in downtown Towson, Maryland, which had already joined a union, voted to authorize a strike. The union has complained about unpredictable work schedules, wages falling behind the cost of living and other work-life balance issues.
