Apple stores will reportedly prepare their iPad Pro and iPad Air models for the long-awaited update in the first week of May.

In his weekly newsletter, Bloomberg's Mark Gurman reports that the updated lineup will include new 11-inch and 12.9-inch iPad Pros. Also expected is a brand new 12.9-inch iPad Air, another new Apple Pencil model, and an updated Magic Keyboard lineup.

For almost two years now, there have been rumors that iPad Pro models will switch from mini-LED panels to OLED displays and will have a thinner and lighter design. More expensive display technology will require a price increase on at least the 12.9-inch Pro model.

There are rumors that Apple may offer a matte anti-glare option for the first time on iPad Pro models. The new Pro models are expected to feature M3 processors.

How much more expensive they are is still unclear. Early — and dubious — The 12.9-inch iPad Pro is rumored to sell for nearly $2,000. According to the latest rumors, its price starts at about $1,500.

To soften the blow, Apple will introduce a new 12.9-inch iPad Air, likely with an M2 processor and a regular display, at a lower price than the Pro. On Sunday morning, Gurman also reported that the base iPad and iPad mini will receive updates later in 2024, likely closer to the holiday season.

The upcoming Apple Pencil is rumored to have several new features, including additional sensors and haptic feedback. Some reports suggested a new chassis that could respond to compression, as well as an updated tip for faster, more accurate drawing.
