According to Counterpoint Research's Global Monthly Handset Model Sales Tracker, Apple's iPhone models dominated the top 10 best-selling smartphones in 2023, with only mid-range Samsung devices making the list.

The iPhone 13 took fourth place, largely due to its popularity in Japan and India, while the iPhone 15 models took fifth, sixth and seventh places, with the best-selling model being the iPhone 15 Pro Max. in Apple's newest lineup, despite its relatively late launch last September. From the tracker report:

Apple's total sales remained flat in 2023, even as its major competitors declined. This stability was partly due to significant stimulus from emerging markets such as India and the Middle East and Africa (MEA). In 2023, India became the fifth smartphone market to surpass 10 million iPhone sales in a single year, highlighting the growing importance of the market for Apple. These factors have contributed to the sales of the iPhone 15 series matching the performance of the iPhone 14 series in 2022.

Samsung's budget A series devices took the eighth, ninth and tenth positions thanks to their high price. proposal, but none of the Korean company's premium flagship Galaxy phones even made the list.

Counterpoint's research confirms previous data from research firm IDC, which showed Apple will overtake Samsung as the world's leading smartphone maker in 2023, shipping more phones per year than Samsung for the first time.
