New MacBook Air and iPad, iOS 17.4 and more expected next month

Now that Apple has released the Vision Pro headset, we can turn our attention to the company's next plans for the year.


As usual, March will be a busy time for Apple, with new MacBook Air, iPad Pro and iPad Air models expected to be released throughout the month. In a recent press release, Apple also confirmed that iOS 17.4 will be released in March.

Here's a look at what to expect from Apple next month.

New Macs and iPads

According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, Apple will likely release new MacBook Air, iPad Pro and iPad Air models “around the end of March.”

Expected that the 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Air will be updated with the M3 chip at the same time, and key advantages over the M2 chip include faster performance and hardware-accelerated ray tracing for improved graphics rendering in games.

No major ones There are no design changes expected for the MacBook Air this year, but the laptop will likely get Wi-Fi 6E support like other Macs.

Apple has already updated the 14-inch MacBook Pro and 16-inch MacBook . Pro and 24-inch iMac with M3 in October 2023

The next iPad Pro models are expected to be the first iPads to feature brighter OLED displays. Other rumored or likely iPad Pro features include an M3 chip, MagSafe wireless charging, an updated Magic Keyboard with a larger trackpad and aluminum top casing, and a landscape front camera.

Large diagonal 12.9 inches. The 1-inch iPad Air is expected to arrive alongside an updated 10.9-inch model. Other rumored or likely iPad Air features include the M2 chip, updated rear camera bump, Wi-Fi 6E support, and Bluetooth 5.3.

iOS 17.4

In its press release announcing major changes to the EU App Store, Apple confirmed that iOS 17.4 will be released in March:

Developers can learn about these changes on the Apple Developer Support page. and today we can start testing new features of the beta version of iOS 17.4. The new features will be available to users in the 27 EU countries starting in March 2024.

In addition to the EU changes, key new features in iOS 17.4 include Apple Podcasts transcripts, SharePlay. for HomePod, new emoji and the ability to use your Apple Cash card on more websites by creating a virtual card number. The update also includes preparations for the launch of the next generation of CarPlay later this year.

Other software updates expected to be released in March include iPadOS 17.4, macOS 14.4, watchOS 10.4, tvOS 17.4 and VisionOS 1.1.

New iPhone color?

Apple often introduces new iPhone colors around March or April, halfway through the annual smartphone release cycle.

  • March 2023: Apple released iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus in yellow.
  • March 2022: Apple introduced a new green color for iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini, as well as a new Alpine Green color for iPhone 13 Pro models.
  • April 2021: Apple released iPhone 12 and the iPhone 12 mini is available in purple.
