Apple fixes annoying text error with updates for Mac and mobile devices

Apple released a surprise round of operating system updates for most of its devices on Thursday, with a rare bug causing intermittent fixes. duplication of text.

The update notes for all releases are sparse, saying only that they contain general bug fixes. Notes for iOS and iPadOS detail a specific fix for user-entered text that may be unexpectedly duplicated or overlapped as they type.

Updated versions of iOS and iPadOS contain build 21D61. This is an increase from the iOS 17.3 build, which was called 21D50.

MacOS 14.3.1 is now build number 23D60, and watchOS is now build number 21S651.

It looks like they are missing any new features in updates, as is usually the case with sub-items of updates. In addition to the return of shared playlists for Apple Music, Apple's main innovation in iOS 17.3 is protection against stolen devices.

Over-the-air updates are available for all compatible devices.

To manually update devices to iOS 17.3.1 or iPadOS 17.3.1, users need to open the Settings app, then select General, and then Software Update softwareIf an update is available for your device, tap it and follow the onscreen instructions to install it.

To update to macOS Sonoma 14.3.1, open the System Preferences app, select General, then Software Update. If an update is available, click Update Now and follow the onscreen instructions.
