visionOS 2.2 Adds New Wide and Ultrawide Settings for Mac Virtual Display, More

Apple today released the first developer beta of visionOS 2.2. The update brings exciting changes for Apple Vision Pro users: new Wide and Ultrawide settings when using Mac Virtual Display.

Apple says the Ultrawide setting is equivalent to using two 4K monitors side by side. Like most visionOS windows, you can stretch Mac Virtual Display to make it as wide or narrow as you need.

The new Mac Virtual Display settings are controlled via a new button that floats above the window. You can click it to switch between Normal, Wide, and Ultrawide.

Additionally, audio playback when using Mac Virtual Display now comes from the Apple Vision Pro itself, rather than the connected Mac. The overall display quality also appears to be much higher resolution, as promised by Apple at WWDC in June.

visionOS 2.2 is currently available to developer beta testers. Apple is not offering a public beta of visionOS. The update is expected to be released to the general public in December. To use the new Wide and Ultrawide settings, you will also need to be running the macOS Sequoia 15.2 beta.
