Newly ReleASDE to Developers, Apple intelligence transcription instruments are fast, accurate and usually double the speed equivalent of Openai. It goes to the market late, but it is the best way, how Openai has released its technology for the Whisper transcription in September 2022, it has become a standard model in dozens of applications and MDash, but now it cannot remain like that.During the WWDC 2025, Apple announced that she opens her intellectual Apple tools for third -party developers. While Apple hardly gave any details and, of course, did not promote their transcription tools, the developers now find what objects it brings.
Macstories writer John Wurchis and his son spent about ten minutes, building a quick tool for using Apple transcription on Mac. In particular, they used the elements of the Apple speech structure called Speechanalyzer and Speech -transcriber, which were released by developers as part of beta -versions of MacOS Tahoe and Apple iOS.
This fast tool, the command line, which they call YAP, is available for download from GitHub. This requires the Apple Developer and MacOS Tahoe account.
AI transcription tools depend mainly on the LLM used, so the comparison is not always simple. Nevertheless, the Apple intelligence supply against the large V3 Turbo model Macwhisper showed a dramatic difference.

The 4K 7K 7 GB video file was read and transcribed into Apple Intelligence subtitles in 45 seconds. It took Macwhisper with a large V3 Turbo LLM for a total of 1 minute and 41 seconds.
Then, to perform the same work of the large MacWhisper model, 3 minutes and 55 seconds were required.
none of these transcriptions was ideal, and all the necessary editing. But the version of Apple Intelligence was as accurate as the instruments based on a whisper, and twice as fast.

The company also, of course, used the same technology in its beta-releases of MacOS 26, iOS 26 and much more. This is a technology that drives its live translation in messages and phone calls.
