Pennsylvania officials have advanced a second bill that would penalize the unauthorized use of Bluetooth trackers like AirTag to track someone -That.

It is not uncommon for someone to find that they are being tracked without their knowledge via AirTag. While the $29 coin-sized trackers have proven useful in locating lost luggage, they've also proven too tempting for those with nefarious intentions.

On Tuesday, the Pennsylvania House of Representatives voted overwhelmingly for a bill that would add the use of a tracking device to secretly track someone to the state's existing stalking laws. The new law would make such behavior a third-degree misdemeanor, punishable by up to 90 days in jail.

The bill will now head to the state Senate for further consideration.

This is not the first time Pennsylvania has passed such a law. As AP News notes, a separate bill is currently under consideration that would make the crime a second-degree misdemeanor.

It is unclear which bill, if any, will get the go-ahead.

Pennsylvania isn't the only state thinking about this. In May 2022, Ohio passed a law making it illegal to use a tracking device on another person's property without their consent.
