The new iPad Pro loses the ultra-wide camera and the fastest M4 chip, available only on 1TB and 2TB models

While the new iPad Pro with M4 is a major step forward on all fronts, there are a couple of things to be aware of. Firstly, this generation Apple has completely removed the ultra-wide-angle camera from the rear camera module.

Additionally, while Apple touts performance gains from the 10-core processor built into the new M4 chip, that chip variant is exclusive to the 1TB and 2TB iPad Pro models. The iPad, which has less storage, has a 9-core processor. They also have half the RAM…

The base iPad Pro model, with 256GB of memory and 512GB of storage, has a 9-core M4 chip processor. , 10-core GPU and 8 GB of RAM. The 9-core processor consists of 3 performance cores and six efficiency cores.

Buyers will have to shell out for significantly more expensive 1TB or 2TB models to get the fastest M4 chip, which features a 10-core processor with 4 performance cores, the same 10-core GPU and 16 GB of RAM. The higher-spec processor features four performance cores and six efficiency cores.

The extra performance core probably won't be noticeable for most operations, but it's worth knowing about. The extra RAM may be useful if you're considering the iPad Pro for heavy workloads, such as editing 4K video streams in Final Cut Pro.

iPad. 10-core processor, 16 GB of RAM, 2 TB of internal memory, “nano-textured glass” (just buy a Paperlike screen protector!)… It feels like Apple is jumping a shark.

This is an iPad aimed at the very, very small number of people who actually need that much power (and who are probably running a traditional desktop OS on a Mac anyway), as well as the “pro-consumers” who absolutely don't need that much energy, but enjoy feeling like a “pro.” The same people who buy a Range Rover for grocery shopping or brand name sportswear to wear around the house. These “pro-consumer” products are not purchased for their capabilities, but rather for the lifestyle image they project.

I get it. I did it too. I buy luxury items, including luxury brands and styles of products that are more than I need, simply because I like them. I'm not judging.

But let's at least acknowledge it when it happens, and it ishappeningwith these iPad Pros.

As for the loss of the ultra-wide-angle camera, that feature is gone no matter what drive you buy. This is simply a direct regression of features compared to the previous generation iPad Pro. All iPad Pros now have just one rear camera, flash, and LiDAR scanner.

However, Apple said the remaining 12-megapixel rear camera is better than ever. It can capture videos and images with better color and increased detail in low light. The new True Tone Adaptive Flash also helps capture documents, so you can photograph forms and receipts while reducing shadows and highlights in the final scanned image.
