If you're looking for an easy-to-ride electric bike for commuting or running errands, the Tenway CGO600 is hard to beat &mdash ; provided that you are willing to spend money on it.

There are many reasons to take up cycling. Not only is it a great way to incorporate exercise into your daily routine, but it's also probably the best way to get around those intermediate distances that are too far to walk but too close to drive.

However, traditional bicycles can be a bit limited. For example, in the summer, your colleagues may not appreciate coming to work drenched in sweat. This is where electric bikes like the Tenway CGO600 Pro really come in handy.

We were very excited to try out the Tenway CGO600 Pro electric bike. This e-bike is not only lightweight and stylish, but also comes with a powerful motor that provides a smooth and effortless ride. Its compact design and long-lasting battery make it ideal for commuting, while its sleek appearance adds a touch of style to your ride.

Tenway CGO600 Pro electric bike – overall design

The CGO600 is considered a lightweight electric bike, weighing in at 37 pounds thanks to its 6061 aluminum alloy frame. If you commute frequently and use multiple modes of transportation, the CGO600 is easy to lift. This means you can easily lift it up a few steps or load it onto bike racks on a bus.

If your battery is dead, it's much easier to pedal a 37-pound bike than a 77-pound bike – — and believe us, we would know.

Electric bicycle CGO600 Pro — It doesn't scream “electric bike” from a distance

As far as design goes, you'll be hard-pressed to find a better-looking e-bike. The CGO600 Pro is more of a stealth e-bike — this means that at first glance it is not immediately obvious that this is an electric bike.

While there's no particular practical reason for this, it's nice to keep the bike's classic shape without any obvious external battery packs or displays.

One of the notable features of the CGO600 Pro is the built-in mudguards above the tire. . This is the main advantage when driving in any terrain, even where there is normal rain. Of course, installing them is a little tedious.

It should be noted that there is no throttle on the CGO600 Pro — it's just a class 1 electric bike — so you don't have the option of traveling with just the engine. This wasn't a problem for us, but may be a problem for other riders.

We tested the avocado green model, but it is also available in sky blue, pebble gray and jet black.

Tenway CGO600 Pro electric bike – Noteworthy Features

Like some of our other favorite bikes, this one is equipped not with a chain, but with a Gates CDN carbon belt. With standard use, it should last over 18,000 miles before needing to be replaced.

The CGO600 features a 350W brushless hub motor and hydraulic disc brakes. We prefer disc brakes over disc brakes as they are much more reliable in wet weather and when going down steep hills. The only downside is that ruptured discs are more expensive and can be difficult to maintain and replace yourself if you are not experienced.

The CGO600 Pro display is very minimalistic — but it's not that bad. The tiny display is easy to read even in bright light, and we found that engaging pedal assist or accessing other functions while riding required little effort.

The display also allows the user to set a password, preventing the use of the pedal and headlights. However, it doesn't lock the bike's wheels, so it's not exactly anti-theft.

Our favorite feature is without a doubt the built-in headlight. This cute little headlight is a game changer if you're driving early in the morning or late at night. Simply hold the up button on the display to turn it on.

The frame has a 360 Wh battery built into it, designed for a range of up to 53 miles — although this will depend greatly on the weight of the rider and the outside temperature.

What we liked is that the battery can be removed from the frame. You just need to unlock it with the included key. This means you can store the bike in one place and charge the battery in another — This is very important if you want to charge your battery in the office or don't have easy access to an outlet for your parked bike.

Tenway CGO600 Pro electric bike – assembly

Like many bikes that are delivered to you, the CGO600 Pro does not come ready to ride. Unfortunately, it requires some assembly. Specifically, you will need to attach the front wheel, handlebars, seat, reflectors, mudguards, and kickstand.

Tenways also provides all the tools for setting up and maintaining the bike. And, as a bonus, each screw clearly indicates the Newton meters to which they should be tightened — if you're going to be so fickle about it.

We were delighted with how easy the bike came together, thanks in no small part to the extremely detailed setup video provided by Tenways. Of course, things didn't go so quickly, but we didn't have any serious problems. Overall it probably took us an hour and a half to mount the bike with just one person — although we spent most of that time re-watching the video to make sure we didn't screw it up.

If you are not comfortable mounting your bike, we recommend taking it to a reputable bike shop. Most bike shops are happy to stock a bike for between $75 and $200, although you should call ahead to find out how much you'll spend.

Tenway CGO600 Pro Electric Bike – Performance

The bike we tested was designed for riders between 5'9″ and 6'4″. Our 6'3″ tester found the bike quite comfortable, if not a little taller than she liked.

And — somewhat surprising — The adjustable handlebars made the bike feel a little tall to our 5'2″ rider, but it was quite rideable.

In fact, we were very pleased to be able to adjust the steering wheel. It's nice to see a bike that doesn't pretend to be universal and offers little customization.

Review of the CGO600 Pro electric bike — This bike uses a belt instead of a chain.

However, we replaced the seat with a wider seat designed for larger, more casual riders. The bike's saddle is small and may be uncomfortable for some riders.

As for the ride, this is one of the smoothest electric bikes we've ridden. The pedal booster is not detected — There are no obvious jerks in the tempo. Instead, it's just a smooth ride that feels very natural.

To be honest, we were surprised by the battery range. Using the minimum level of pedal assist seemed to be enough to take the pressure off our riders' knees without draining the battery.

We were able to get over 35 miles on three trips before we decided to charge the battery, but we probably could have done a fourth trip without draining it completely.

As for speed, the estimated top speed is limited to 20 mph — although Tenweiss notes that you can go faster under your strength. We hit 25 mph a few times on particularly flat stretches of road, but in city driving we don't think you'll typically see those speeds.

The only place where the CGO600 falls short is climbing steep hills. This is a single speed car and it definitely feels like a single speed, so when you're heading up a steep hill you'll probably have to put in some genuine effort when pedaling.

We tested it at our favorite park and found that at pedal assist level 3 we could climb a particularly steep hill, although not as easily as with Ride1Up's Roadster V2.

Who Tenway Electric Bicycle CGO600 Pro is for

We believe that most people who love cycling — but I still want to be able to assist with pedaling — I would love the CGO600 Pro. This is a great way to take pressure off your knees and allow you to ride your bike longer.

It is also a lightweight bike, making it easier to carry when needed. This is a pretty good choice for a city bike, especially if you live in an area with lots of paved riding areas.

Some people may want to look elsewhere. If you are looking for a motor only bike, this is not the bike for you. Since it's class 1 and not class 2, you'll still have to pedal wherever you go.

If lack of throttle isn't a deal breaker, we suggest trying the Roadster V2 Gravel Edition from Ride1Up. This is a second class electric bike that is even lighter than the CGO600.
