Another game from the cult horror series Resident Evil has appeared in the App Store. 26 years after its original release, Resident Evil 2 is now available in the App Store for iPhone, iPad, and Mac.
*Technically, the game is a 2019 remake, but as a child of the 90s, I love the idea of a 1998 game coming to modern Apple devices.
As part of the launch, Capcom is discounting the game 75% for a limited time.

Capcom announced the availability, adding that gamers can try the game before they buy:
Return to the terrifying adventure of Leon and Claire as they fight to survive a catastrophic viral outbreak in Raccoon City.
Players can now download Resident Evil 2 on the App Store and try out part of the gripping story for free before purchasing the full version.
Good news for everyone: Resident Evil 2 is a universal purchase for iPhone, iPad, and Mac; and gameplay syncs across devices.
Bad news for some: Resident Evil 2 requires an iPhone 15 Pro, any iPhone 16, and iPad and an M-series Mac. If you can run Apple Intelligence, you can run Resident Evil 2.
RE 2 is free to download and comes with two in-app purchases: $9.99 to unlock the base game, and $1.99 to unlock all in-game rewards. Capcom says the $9.99 starting price is a 75% discount that ends on January 8, 2025, so grab the game for just $10 if you’re on the fence.

Note: While RE 2 is a 723.9MB download on iPhone and iPad, you'll need 22.11GB of free space on a Mac to install the game.
A year ago, Capcom released Resident Evil 4 on the App Store. Resident Evil Village and Resident Evil 7 Biohazard are also now in the App Store.
