Report: Apple Designing All-New Magic Mouse, Fixing Charging Port Location

According to the latest issue of Mark Gurman's Power On newsletter, Apple is working on a completely redesigned Magic Mouse, focusing on key criticisms of the existing product.

Apple just technically updated the Magic Mouse by adding a USB-C port, so this product may not be coming anytime soon. Gurman says Apple is “looking to develop something that better suits the modern era.”

Customers have long criticized the Magic Mouse's ergonomics, making it uncomfortable to use for long periods of time. Plus, the design leaves no room for a charging port on the front, forcing users to flip the mouse over to plug it in.

This, of course, means you won’t be able to use the mouse while it’s charging. However, Apple may soon have a (nearly) solution to this problem. According to Bloomberg, Apple “wants to create something more relevant and also address long-standing complaints.”

The report doesn’t have many other details, though I’m imagining something more like the Logitech MX Master, hopefully.

As for timing, this product won’t be available for another 12 to 18 months. That means it’ll launch sometime in 2026, perhaps alongside the new refreshed OLED MacBook Pros.
