OCC's new Thunderbolt 5 Hub aims to give you even more access to the fastest ports by splitting one into three.

In 2021, OWC introduced the Thunderbolt Hub, a docking station that provided three extra Thunderbolt 4 ports when connected to a Mac’s Thunderbolt 4 ports. Three years later, it’s doing it again, but for the latest Mac models.

The OWC Thunderbolt 5 Hub is the same concept as before, with a single Thunderbolt 5 cable connecting to a host Mac and providing three more Thunderbolt 5 ports for connecting devices. The hub also adds a USB-A port to the equation.

The latest version is designed to take advantage of the Thunderbolt 5 upgrade that new Macs received thanks to the upgrade to the M4 Pro and M4 Max chips. The connection can handle up to 80Gbps of bidirectional data, double that of Thunderbolt 4, and can operate at up to 120Gbps asymmetrically.

With the OWC hub, three ports not only provide more connection points for Thunderbolt devices, it also allows users to daisy-chain Thunderbolt hardware across three different chains without affecting other chains.

It can also provide up to 140W of power to a connected Mac host and supports up to three 8K displays using DisplayPort. It’s even backwards compatible with Thunderbolt 4 and Thunderbolt 3 connections.

Available in December, the OWC Thunderbolt 5 Hub is available for pre-order now for $189.99.
