OpenAI is introducing its own ChatGPT generative text app for macOS users, and it will be released soon after completion of the release event.
ChatGPT is currently available for Mac through third-party applications. That's about to change.
In a series of announcements on Monday, the company said it would release its own app for Mac on Monday. This will make the service permanently available to macOS users.

The application includes a “Voice Mode” that uses the audio features of the new GPT-4o model when fully deployed.
Paid subscribers will be able to get the app for macOS on May 13th. It will be available to free GPT users in the next few weeks. The Windows version was promised to be released sometime in 2024.
This release does not appear to be related to the deal reportedly in the works between Apple and OpenAI. Friday's report claimed that a deal was close between the pair — but not finished yet.
In addition to this deal, a deal with Google was also actively discussed. Apple is said to be working on Ajax, an LLM program that could cover many different functions that Siri could theoretically do.
Using Ajax, Apple is expected to offer text summarization that analyzes whether contacts are engaged and provides Spotlight with smarter results.
In addition to generative artificial intelligence, Apple is also working on summation applications. We have reported similar technology that is expected to be included throughout the system to help summarize voice notes and other audio sources. This is also expected to be on the device.
