Apple’s new iMac models are available with a Nano Texture display for the first time since the lineup transitioned to Apple silicon.
First introduced with the Pro Display XDR in 2019, Nano Texture glass is etched at the nanometer scale to preserve image quality while diffusing ambient light to reduce glare. This is the matte display type Apple makes, and Apple says it’s useful for high-end color-managed workflows or demanding ambient lighting environments.
The iMac’s massive 24-inch 4.5K Retina display is its most highly praised feature, and for the first time, it’s available with a nano-texture glass option that dramatically reduces reflections and glare while maintaining outstanding image quality. With nano-texture glass, users can place the iMac in even more spaces, like a sun-drenched living room or a bright storefront.
The 2020 27-inch Intel-based iMac was available with a nano-texture display option before it was discontinued, so the new iMac marks the first time the feature has been available on a silicon version of an Apple device. The new iMac's nano-texture glass is a $200, customizable build-to-order option that's now available for Pro Display XDR, Studio Display, and iPad Pro.
