Kwikset Introduces Halo Select, a Matter-Enabled Smart Door Lock

Today, Kwikset announced the upcoming launch of Halo Select, a new smart door lock designed with built-in Wi-Fi and Matter support. This lock provides easy smart home integration without the need for a hub or locking device. You can control the lock via the Kwikset app, allowing remote access, locking/unlocking, and granting guest access with unique codes or in the app, with real-time notifications to track activity. Once integrated with your smart home platform, you can also control it from there.

Abode is the best HomeKit compatible home security system.

Support for Matter over Thread makes the lock compatible with HomeKit, Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, and more. Plus, geofencing technology allows the lock to automatically unlock when a user approaches the home.

Halo Select represents the next step in Kwikset’s mission to provide homeowners with unmatched security and seamless control over their home security,” said Jeff Sandoval, director of electronics marketing at Kwikset. Offering both Wi-Fi and Matter connectivity, Halo Select fills a critical gap in the market by providing a one-stop, integrated solution that simplifies smart home integration. We are excited to bring this innovation to market and continue to deliver trusted, proven products that reflect the changing needs of today’s connected homes.

Some of the nice design elements include a touchscreen with keypad indicators and a door status sensor to confirm the door is properly locked. The lock also alerts users to security issues such as incorrect code or tampering attempts and has a powerful, quiet motor for fast operation.

The lock is designed for DIY installation, requiring only a screwdriver, and is powered by AA batteries or a rechargeable lithium-ion pack). An upgraded Halo Select+ model with NFC push-button unlocking will launch in early 2025.

Halo Select with Matter will be available in stores and online by mid-November.
