Jony Ive is now seeking funding to join the AI development train

Former Apple chief designer Jony Ive is seeking big money from prominent artificial intelligence venture capitalists to create his mysterious assistant.

Friday's report again links Jony Ive to Open AI funding source Thrive Capital, and also re-links Laurene Powell-Jobs' Emerson team to the effort. Ive is seeking $1 billion in funding to get the ball rolling, sources said.

This is not the first time Quince has been connected to some kind of artificial intelligence peripheral. In September, Quince was connected with SoftBank CEO Masayoshi Son to prepare

Friday's report from The Information, which sheds no new light on what Ive wants to achieve. Previous reports claimed that Ive was brainstorming at his San Francisco studio with OpenAI's Sam Altman. These sessions were reported to focus on what a new consumer product with OpenAI technology might look like and look like.

As usual, none of the publication’s representatives commented on this issue.

In the long run, these efforts will likely put Ive at odds with Apple. Ive left Apple in 2019 to form his own independent design consultancy, LoveFrom, after nearly three decades with the company.

Although independence gave Ive the opportunity to work with other companies, the company he founded was still associated with Apple for a time.

For example, in May 2021, it was reported that Ive was working on a 24-inch iMac, a major upgrade to the desktop Mac. However, due to the typically lengthy hardware development process, it is likely that Ive was still working for Apple at the time of his involvement rather than working within LoveFrom.

In 2022, reports circulated that Ive was no longer consulting with Apple.

Apple does not stand still in the field of artificial intelligence. Nowadays, machine learning and artificial intelligence procedures cover almost every aspect of Apple hardware and services.

CEO Tim Cook said the company will make announcements before the end of 2024. In an X-post shortly after WWDC 2024 was officially announced, Greg Joswiak posted a post promoting the WWDC news.

A message from Apple's senior vice president of marketing tells developers to “Mark your calendars for #WWDC24,” confirming both the date and the official hashtag for the event.

Jos then states, “This is going to be absolutely incredible!” Joswiak's post contains a clue, but it doesn't take an Enigma machine to determine that the capitalized word “Absolutely Incredible” refers to AI.
