iOS 18.2 May Get Full Public Release From Image Playground And ChatGPT On December 9

iOS 18.2 could get a full public release on December 9.

iOS 18.2 with access to ChatGPT, Image Playground, and Genmoji integrations could finally go public on December 9 Based on a notice recently posted by the UK carrier.

Apple released the third developer beta of iOS 18.2 on Monday. Along with various changes and quality of life improvements, the software also includes an update to carrier-specific settings.

The third developer beta contains an update for devices using UK carrier EE. The carrier settings that shipped with iOS 18.1 and the second developer beta of iOS 18.2 had the version number 59.5.1, while iOS 18.2 developer beta 3 bumped the EE carrier settings version to 60.5.2.

As initially discovered by MacRumors, the update removes the “Add WiFi calling to other devices” option from the system settings. This means that EE network users will no longer be able to initiate calls from their iPad or Mac over Wi-Fi. The carrier confirmed the change in a notice posted on the company’s website.

The notice explains that Wi-Fi calling on iPads and MacBooks will no longer be available to EE customers from December 9. While there is no definitive proof, this could be when Apple makes iOS 18.2 available to the general public. This explains why EE included the date in its notice to customers.

It is worth noting that iOS 18.2 is still in beta, meaning further changes are always possible, although unlikely. The update primarily focuses on Apple Intelligence, introducing support for Image Playground, Genmoji, Visual Intelligence, and ChatGPT integration via Siri. There is also a new FindMy feature to help users find lost luggage or AirTags.

The software is rumoured to receive a full public release sometime in December 2024, which would match the date in the UK carrier’s notice.
