Google Photos AI-powered image editing tools coming to iPhone on May 15

Google is going to give all Google Photos users access to its AI-powered editing tools on iPhone, and for Most users do not require a subscription.

Google smartphones like the Pixel are equipped with AI-powered smart features that can revolutionize a user's photography. Now Google is opening these tools to more people, including iPhone users.

In an announcement on Wednesday, Google said it will make a number of its artificial intelligence-powered image editing features available to all Google Photos users.

Google is also making these tools available on more devices than just Pixel smartphones. While Google Pixel tablets are mentioned directly, iPhones are included in the compatibility list.

To use these features, users must use devices with at least 3GB of storage and iOS 15 or later. Alternatively, they can also use an Android smartphone running Android 8.0 or later or a Chromebook Plus running ChromeOS 118 or later.

The tools will begin to be distributed to users on other devices starting May 15. This process is likely to take several weeks.

Almost no subscription

iPhone users will be able to use features like Photo Unblur to improve blurry photos. and “Portrait Light” to customize lighting for users in portraits. A Magic Eraser is also available to remove distracting elements from photos.

While Google says most tools will be available without a subscription, there is one tool that will be affected.

Magic Editor, a generative artificial intelligence tool, allows users to perform complex image editing, such as moving objects or making significant changes to the background. Again, this tool is designed for Pixel devices, but it is also designed for iOS for devices with at least 4GB of storage.

However, Google Photos users will only be able to get ten saves per month from Magic Editor without paying anything. Google One Premium plan subscribers with 2TB of storage or higher do not have a ten-save limit.

The announcement comes as Apple is exploring ways to offer more generative artificial intelligence tools to users. While Apple was working on its own tools, Google was allegedly considering giving iPhone users premium generative AI features for a fee.
