Apple released Final Cut Pro 2 and Logic Pro 2 for iPad with new features including multi-camera video recording and AI-powered audio tracks called session players.

Announced alongside the release of the new iPad Pro. Apple's two core professional creative apps have been updated with new features to take advantage of the faster M4 processor. Final Cut Pro 2, in particular, takes advantage of the processor's capabilities to provide real-time multi-camera functionality on the iPad Pro.

“Live Multicam allows filmmakers to connect and view up to four cameras simultaneously, all in one place,” said Will Hui, Apple Product Manager, Creative Apps. “Creators can remotely control every video angle and adjust exposure, white balance, focus and more.”

Frames are still recorded on separate devices, which can now be multiple iPhones or iPads. To do this, devices must have Apple's new free app called Final Cut Camera installed.

This app transmits camera footage in real time to the iPad, where the director can adjust settings for each remote device. This way, an iPad user can adjust white balance or even focus from one place.

“New support for external projects now offers creators the flexibility to edit projects directly from disk using the iPad Pro's fast Thunderbolt connection,” Hui continued, “and M4 processing with up support is incredible. There are four times more ProRes RAW streams.” than M1.”

For audio editing in Logic Pro 2, Apple has added AI features that enhance the existing Drummer feature in the app.

“The Drummer now gets new band members thanks to a feature that. we call Session Players,” Hui said. “We're introducing a completely new bass player and keyboard player, and like the drummer, they're built with AI to help you achieve perfect performances with Logic Pro.” 2 now also has a remixing feature where a single finished music track can be dragged into the application and automatically separated into components. Logic Pro 2 can isolate vocals, drums, base and other musical instruments into separate tracks for further editing.
