The futuristic, neon-drenched world of Cyberpunk 2077 is officially coming to Mac, offering Apple gamers an experience that Many have been waiting for the game since its initial release.

Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition will be released in early 2025 and will be available on the Mac App Store and Steam. It is exclusive to Apple Silicon-based Macs, taking advantage of the advanced hardware capabilities of Apple's M1, M2, and new M4 MacBook Pro models.

The game features path tracing and frame generation, which are essential for creating complex graphics and realistic environments. Gamers will also appreciate Apple's spatial audio for immersive soundscapes that further enhance the gameplay.

Apple Silicon's performance capabilities are increasingly optimized for gaming. The upcoming release of Cyberpunk 2077 will use Apple's Metal graphics framework to improve performance and efficiency in resource-intensive applications.

Metal is a critical component when running visually demanding games like Cyberpunk 2077, allowing developers to take full advantage of the Mac’s GPU. The collaboration between Metal and Apple Silicon aims to deliver a seamless gaming experience, stunning visual quality, and optimized power consumption.

There’s good news for existing PC gamers. CD Projekt Red has confirmed that players who already own Cyberpunk 2077 on Steam can access the Mac version without having to purchase it again.

Apple’s recent rebranding of the Mac as a powerful gaming computer coincides with CD Projekt Red’s launch. Historically, Apple computers have been overlooked as gaming contenders due to their lack of hardware and software support for AAA titles.

The company’s growing focus on Metal optimization and the improved performance of Apple Silicon are quickly transforming the PC gaming landscape.

Along with the release of Cyberpunk 2077, Apple is gearing up for other major games to come to the macOS platform. With Assassin's Creed Shadows and the Resident Evil 4 expansion coming to Mac in early 2025, the company's gaming strategy looks set to evolve even further.

The popularity of these AAA games on macOS could encourage even more developers to prioritize Apple compatibility in their game plans.
