Left-behind AirPods and iPhone Help Catch Ferrari Thief
A thief in Connecticut stole a $575,000 Ferrari, but was caught after the owner left a pair of AirPods in the car, which police tracked to a gas station.
One of the thieves then fled the car, but left his iPhone behind, according to WFSB. The 22-year-old man was arrested and charged with grand theft auto.
Six wanted for 'flashback theft' at Ontario Apple store
Halton, Ont., police are searching for six people who were wearing masks when they carried out a “flashback theft” of Apple products at Mapleview Mall on Oct. 3.
The suspects took iPhones and iPads from shelves and tables, according to Inside Halton.
Utah man uses AirTag to catch tool thieves
A Utah man who had $6,500 worth of tools stolen from his work truck has found them and more by following an AirTag.
According to KSL, Mark Cox followed AirTag to his home, demanding the tools be returned. “The Kid” claimed he didn't know what he was talking about, and when Cox threatened to call the police, the tools were returned.
But that wasn’t the end of it. Police, who knew the house well, obtained a warrant and seized more stolen goods. One 26-year-old man was arrested on multiple counts of handling stolen goods, but the investigation remains open.
Woman chases iPhone thief in London
An 18-year-old American woman in London had her iPhone stolen and chased the thief “for a mile in her Prada boots” in London’s Soho area. During the chase, she encountered a group of police officers, who detained the man.
According to Yahoo News, Ariana Roy posted about the chase on TikTok. The thief was later found guilty and sentenced to 11 weeks in prison.

Tourist has iPhone and Rolex stolen back to back
A British tourist on holiday in Majorca had his iPhone stolen and then his diamond Rolex stolen minutes later. According to Metro, the two unrelated thefts happened after the man left a bar in the Mediterranean city of Palma.
The thefts took place in March and were described on October 11 when those accused of stealing the watches appeared in court. The two men were each sentenced to two years.
Video shows man and woman arguing over 'stolen' charger on plane
In a video that went viral on social media in late September, a man and woman on a plane clashed over the theft of an “Apple charger.”

The man says the plane was stuck on the runway and the pilot told passengers they could get off to stretch their legs.

In a follow-up video, the woman gave her side of the story, saying she found the charger on an “empty flight” and that the events happened more than a year before the video was shared.

The FBI Still Hasn’t Unlocked Eric Adams’ Phone, Prosecutors Say
In November 2023, nearly a year before he was indicted on corruption charges, New York City Mayor Eric Adams had a variety of devices, including two iPhones and an iPad.
In early October, after the charges were filed, the New York Post reported that the FBI had still not been able to access the mayor’s personal phone.
According to the newspaper, one of the prosecutors in the case said at a court hearing that the inability to hack the phone was a “significant dark card” in the case.
The phone was turned over to investigators the day after the November 2023 raid, but Adams said he had changed the password and forgotten the new one.
New Hampshire's “Porch Pirate” Caught on Camera
A New Hampshire man who ordered a new iPhone 16 Pro Max had his package stolen from his front porch, and he captured the theft on a Ring camera.
According to WMUR, police said they are “trying to figure out how the thieves know when the iPhones are delivered.”
Florida Man Accused of Selling Stolen iPhone at Walmart Kiosk
A 44-year-old man from Marion County, Florida, is accused of selling a stolen iPhone at an ecoATM kiosk at Walmart.
According to the Ocala News, the iPhone was stolen from a gas station, and she used Find My iPhone to track it to a Walmart in Summerfield. A deputy then found the device inside an ecoATM.
A subsequent check revealed that the man claimed to have owned the iPhone since September 2023 and provided a thumbprint. The man was charged with grand theft over $300 but under $5,000 and trafficking in stolen property. He is scheduled to appear in court in late October.
iPhone porch theft scheme busted in Oklahoma
Police in Oklahoma City and nearby Edmond have arrested members of the Porch Pirates gang who stole nearly $7 million worth of electronics in a sting operation.
According to OKC Fox, the two suspects arrested are members of the national Porch Pirates gang. They were caught when detectives “compiled a list of deliveries scheduled for Oct. 10 and conducted surveillance on homes.” One of the suspects was caught in the act, while the others were arrested separately.
Bouncers Accused of Stealing Rapper Busta Rhymes' iPhone in South Africa
American rapper Busta Rhymes had his iPhone stolen while visiting South Africa in September, and one radio host has a theory about what happened.
According to Briefly, radio host Anele Mdoda believes “sneaky bouncers” are to blame for the theft.
