Carpool Karaoke Returns to Apple TV+ with Hour-Long Christmas Special

Carpool Karaoke started as a popular segment on James Corden's late-night show and later evolved into a multi-season series without Corden that first aired on Apple Music and then moved to Apple TV. Now he's back with a one-hour Christmas special for Apple TV+ and Apple Music subscribers.

Lady Gaga, Dua Lipa, and Chappell Roan star in “A Carpool Karaoke Christmas”

A Carpool Karaoke Christmas is now available in most countries around the world, with a global release on December 20.

The musical special will feature three popular artists:

Lady Gaga
Dua Lipa
Chappell Roan

This time, behind the wheel is Zane Lowe, Apple Music Radio Host and ultimately one of the most recognizable faces of Apple Music.

It would be a nice Christmas surprise for James Corden to be back behind the wheel. Although he opens the special, he ultimately hands over the keys to Apple Music's Zane Lowe. Lowe is an excellent interviewer, so I suspect it will be fun to watch despite Corden’s absence.

Corden hands over the keys to Lowe, a fellow interviewer and an authoritative voice among today's top artists, as he takes the wheel in this holiday edition of Carpool Karaoke: The Series, which features Lady Gaga, Dua Lipa and Chappelle Roan singing Christmas classics including Wham!'s “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” and “Last Christmas,” as well as their signature songs like Lady Gaga's chart-topping “Die With A Smile,” Dua Lipa's number-one hit “Houdini,” and Chappelle Roan's breakout hit “Good Luck, Babe!” As a festive treat, Zane Lowe and Lady Gaga have premiered a special version of “Santa Claus Is Comin’ to Town” on Apple Music and all major music platforms.

9to5Mac’s Take

At just under an hour long, the special is considerably longer than a standard Carpool Karaoke special. But with a radio host, an expert interviewer behind the wheel, and three of the most influential artists in music today, I’m guessing the extra time will be well worth it.
