The Unicode Consortium has released its latest collection of emoji you can use on iPhones in late 2025, including a distorted face, a 'struggle cloud', and an apple

The Unicode Consortium’s Emoji Standards and Research Working Group is responsible for creating and managing emoji characters. These images are included in iOS, macOS, and other operating systems around the world.

Each year, the group proposes a collection of new emoji or changes to the existing list to the Unicode Technical Committee. According to Emojipedia, 164 emoji were submitted for addition in November.

A document published by the working group includes nine characters from the list, giving a hint of what’s to come.

The nine characters cover a range of areas, including a killer whale along with a hairy Bigfoot-style creature. Also included are people with distorted faces, as well as a ballerina, who will support all five standard skin tone modifier options.

The rest include an apple core, a mudslide, a treasure chest, a trombone, and a “battle cloud” often depicted in cartoons.

If the emoji is approved, it will be approved for Emoji 17.0 in September 2025. Apple often includes emoji in iOS and its operating systems within a few months of approval.
