Apple's Chief of Procurement Steps Down After 24 Years

An Apple veteran is retiring, according to a new report from Bloomberg. Dan Rosquez told his team that he was “leaving the company soon” after 24 years, most recently serving as vice president of global sourcing and supply management.

Bloomberg explains:

Rosquez, whose title is vice president of global sourcing and supply management, was responsible for sourcing components and negotiating agreements with suppliers. It’s a vital role at a company known for driving hard bargains with suppliers — an approach that boosts the profit margins of iPhones, iPads, and other products.

Rosquez led Apple’s procurement team alongside Tony Blevins until 2022, when Blevins left the company after making crude remarks in a TikTok video. Since 2022, Rosquez has led the team on his own and reported to Sabih Khan, Apple’s senior vice president of operations.

Rosquez will be replaced by David Thom, who joined Apple in 2003 and currently oversees silicon, wireless components, and battery procurement. Bloomberg reports that Thom has served as Rosquez’s “chief deputy” for the past several years.
