A new report claims that both a successor to the Apple Vision Pro and another, less expensive Apple Vision headset are likely to be released within the next two years.

The budget Apple Vision headset is rumored to be priced around $2,000 compared to the $3,499 Apple Vision Pro. It will allegedly use a less powerful chip and lower-resolution screens than the more expensive model.

A Bloomberg report says that the budget headset will ditch some of the technology featured in the Apple Vision Pro, such as the Eyesight feature. This requires a lenticular display on the outside of the headset to allow others to “see” the user’s eyes.

The base Apple Vision headset will likely be powered by the A-series chip used in the upcoming iPhone lineup, rather than the M2 chip currently used in the Apple Vision Pro. In terms of materials, it is reasonable to assume that it will make more use of lighter materials to make it less heavy on the wearer’s head.

The successor to the current Apple Vision Pro is expected to come with a cheaper Apple Vision model. This will give Apple the opportunity to offer consumers interested in an AR/VR headset a choice of features and price points.

Apple reportedly expects to sell twice as many Apple Vision headsets as the Apple Vision Pro due to its lower price. Work on the second Apple Vision Pro is ongoing, but the main hardware change is currently expected to be a processor upgrade.

Both devices are expected to launch in 2026. Apple is also said to be working on an augmented reality smart glasses project, alongside the Apple Vision and Apple Vision Pro headsets.
