Apple Watch Series 10 Screen Improvement Rumored Will Drain Battery

Apple Watch Series 9

Apple Watch Series 10 will receive a new display, and a report on the changes will be published on the OLED panel , which can extend battery life.

The Apple Watch's improved display has helped reduce the wearable's power consumption over time. As for the Series 10 device, it may get a newer device that will save even more power.

A report from The Elec on Tuesday claimed that Apple will use new low-temperature thin-film transistor (TFT) polycrystalline oxide (LTPO) technology in the Series 10 OLED display, which the report says will launch later in the year. 2024.

The use of LTPO TFT has so far only applied to some switchable TFTs on the Apple Watch display panel, and the older LTPS has been used for other switchable TFTs and control TFTs. In the new version, LTPO will be used on more TFTs, including control TFTs.

LTPS will obviously still be used, but only on the remaining TFT screens and circuits outside the visible pixel region.

Display manufacturers are watching this change closely because of the potential for increased use of the new technology in other devices such as the iPhone. Apple previously used LTPO on the Apple Watch before bringing it to the iPhone, and now it may follow the same pattern again.

The iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max models are expected to use LTPO TFT, but all four iPhone 17 models could use the technology.

While The Elec isn't all that strong when it comes to rumors about product performance, it tends to do well when it comes to supply chain stories. Given the subject matter, it seems more likely that Apple is investigating the rise in LTPO TFT usage in this way.
