Apple has released the second release candidates of iOS 18.2, iPadOS 18.2, macOS Sequoia 15.2, visionOS 2.2, and tvOS 18.2 for testing as the final public release approaches.
The second RC will follow the first, which was released on December 5. This time, the second RCs are iOS 18.2, iPadOS 18.2, macOS Sequoia 15.2, visionOS 2.2, and tvOS 18.2, but not watchOS 11.2.
The second RCs of iOS 18.2 and iPadOS 18.2 share the same build number, 22c151. The second RC of macOS Sequoia 15.2 is 24C100.
The second RC of tvOS 18.2 is 22K155, and the second RC of visionOS 2.2 is 22N841.
The final public release of Apple's testing operating systems is expected to happen in December. The existence of RCs means that the release is approaching very soon.
The big changes to Apple Intelligence for macOS, iOS, and iPadOS are all about images, with the introduction of Genmoji and Image Playground. iPhone 16 owners can also use Visual Intelligence by asking questions using the iPhone camera.
Writing Tools, part of the first wave of Apple Intelligence, is getting a new API for third-party apps.
This time around, Siri is getting ChatGPT integration, which will answer some user queries. Apple is also making Apple Intelligence available in more regions, though only in English-language formats.
The third round of beta testing introduced a new feature that added a “Share Item Location” feature to Find My. Users can share the location of an AirTag or other Find My-enabled accessory with third parties, including airlines, in the event of lost luggage.
AppleInsider and Apple strongly discourage users from installing test operating systems or other beta or RC software on “mission-critical” or primary hardware due to the remote possibility of issues that could result in data loss. Testers should therefore use secondary or non-primary devices and ensure they have adequate backups of any mission-critical data.
