Following the latest operating system releases, Apple has moved to a new generation of developer betas, delivering the first builds of iOS 18.3, iPadOS 18.3, macOS 15.3, tvOS 18.3, watchOS 11.3, and visionOS 2.3.
Apple released iOS 18.2, iPadOS 18.2, macOS 15.2, tvOS 18.2, watchOS 11.2, and visionOS 2.2 on December 11, ending the last beta testing cycle. Now, Apple has moved on to a new batch.
The first developer betas of iOS 18.3 and iPadOS 18.3 have build number 22D5034e, while macOS Sequoia 15.3 has build number 24D5034. The first tvOS 18.3 build is 22K5534e, the first watchOS 11.3 build is 22S5534d, and the first visionOS 2.3 build is 22N5875e.
While the full scope of Apple’s changes in this generation of betas is unknown, we can be sure that more changes to Apple Intelligence will be coming soon.
The official build notes mention a fix for Genmoji, where a personalized image may not generate unless another person is selected first. There’s also a fix for the Writing Tools API used by third-party apps.
The releases of iOS 18.2, iPadOS 18.2, and macOS Sequoia 15.2 introduced new Apple Intelligence features like Image Playground and Genmoji, as well as improvements to Writing Tools. It also expanded the availability of Apple Intelligence to more English-speaking markets.
AppleInsider and Apple strongly advise users not to install test operating systems or other beta or RC software on “mission-critical” or primary hardware due to the low likelihood of issues that could result in data loss. Testers should therefore use secondary or non-primary devices and ensure they have sufficient backups of any critical data.
Since this is likely the last time Apple will introduce betas in 2024, testers may also want to think twice before trying out the new build. Round two may end up waiting until early January.
