watchOS 11.1 release candidate finally arrives, a day late Apple’s other operating systems are in RC builds.

On Monday, Apple released the release candidate versions of iOS 18.1, iPadOS 18.1, tvOS 18.1, visionOS 2.1, and macOS Sequoia 15.1. While watchOS 11.1 was the only one missing at the time, it has now joined the rest of the group.

Tuesday’s RC build of watchOS 11.1 has the build number 22R582. It comes after five rounds of developer beta testing, the last of which was on October 14.

While Apple introduces new features to iOS, iPadOS, and macOS in the form of Apple Intelligence, the same can’t be said for watchOS 11.1. So far, the betas haven’t shown any major feature changes, with the release notes offering a fairly short list of issue fixes and performance improvements.

AppleInsider and Apple strongly discourage users from installing test operating systems or other beta or RC software on “mission-critical” or primary hardware due to the remote possibility of issues that could result in data loss. Testers should therefore use secondary or non-primary devices and ensure they have adequate backups of any mission-critical data.
