Apple Releases Second Version of macOS Sequoia 15.1 Release

Apple has released the second release candidate for macOS Sequoia 15.1 as the public release of the operating system update with Apple Intelligence gets closer.

The first release candidate for macOS Sequoia 15.1 was released by Apple on October 21. Three days later, Apple released the second RC build for developer testing.

The second RC has the build number 24B83, replacing 24B82.

It’s unclear what exactly changed between the first and second release candidates. At this stage, it’s likely to be minor tweaks or under-the-hood changes rather than major changes.

The main focus of the update is Apple Intelligence, Apple’s generative, AI-powered feature set. The initial wave includes Writing Tools, which helps users edit, correct, and rewrite text in different styles.

Apple is simultaneously launching a developer beta of macOS 15.2, which introduces more Apple Intelligence features. These include ChatGPT integration with Siri, as well as generative image features including Genmoji.

AppleInsider and Apple strongly discourage users from installing test operating systems or other beta or RC software on “mission-critical” or primary hardware due to the remote possibility of issues that could result in data loss. Testers should therefore use secondary or non-primary devices and ensure they have adequate backups of any mission-critical data.
