Apple releases second tvOS 17.4 beta for developers

Apple is in the second phase of developer beta testing, and a new build of tvOS 17.4 is now available for testing.

Developers participating in the testing program can get the latest version by visiting the Apple Developer Center or by updating any Apple TVs that are already running the beta. Public betas typically appear shortly after developer releases, and the public can sign up to test them through Apple's beta program when they become available.

The second tvOS 17.4 developer beta comes after the first, which was released on January 25th.

The second beta build is numbered 21L5206f and replaces the first build numbered 21L5195h.

It is currently unclear what new features will be added to tvOS 17.4. Considering that updates tend to be related to performance improvements and bug fixes rather than new features, it's likely that the release will be in the same vein.

AppleInsider and Apple strongly advise users not to install beta operating systems or beta software in general on “mission-critical” or essential devices, as there is a potential for problems that could result in data loss . Instead, testers should use secondary or non-essential equipment and ensure that they have sufficient backups of critical data at all times.
