Apple releases fourth beta versions of iOS 17.4 and macOS Sonoma 14.4 [U]

Public beta versions are also available today.

Development of iOS 17.4 is ending soon. Apple has just shipped iOS 17.4 beta 4 to developers. The software preview is primarily focused on changes made in the EU due to regulatory requirements. Apple also released macOS 14.4 beta 4, VisionOS 1.1 beta 3, watchOS 10.4 beta 4, and tvOS 17.4 beta 4.

Here's a rundown of some of the big changes , which Apple is preparing:

  • Apple announces a reduction in the commission structure for applications in Europe.
  • Apple will allow the use of third-party browsers and web engines by default. iPhone, but only in the EU.
  • Apple announces support for third-party iPhone app stores in the EU, coming with iOS 17.4.

For everyone worldwide, iOS 17.4 includes new emoji characters.

Apple is also testing a beta version of VisionOS 1.1, which brings support for mobile device management and improvements to Persona (your virtual self during video calls).
