Apple Pencil Pro comes in five different art boxes.

Apple Pencil Pro boxes on display at the Apple Store

Collectors will have to spend $645 to get an Apple Pencil Pro in each of five different packaging designs — but it is better to buy in a store rather than online.

Apple may be reducing its use of plastic in packaging and getting rid of stickers, but it's not going back to the 1990s, when everything came in brown cardboard with minimal printed images. Instead, Apple added full-color images to the white boxes of the Apple Pencil Pro, each with the word “Pro” written on it.

As Arun Maini pointed out, they appear the same from all sides, but different from above. Each top features a photo of the Apple Pencil Pro, but the word “Pro” is woven around it in different styles.

Unless you request a specific box or the Apple Store is full, in-store shoppers won't know which Apple Pencil Pro box design they will receive. However, we were told that if a store is relatively slow, the customer can request a specific design if it is in stock. Otherwise it would be cruel to show all five.

It is noteworthy that when ordering Apple Pencil Pro online, there are no box design options. There is no suggestion that the boxes could be different unless users go to an Apple retail store.

Apple Pencil Pro is only compatible with the new iPad Air and iPad Pro models announced at Apple's online event. it costs $129, is available to order now, and will ship May 15, 2024 — but what drawer does Apple keep us waiting in.
