“Apple ID” is expected to change to “Apple Account” starting with iOS 18

MacRumors was the first to report that Apple plans to rename “Apple ID” to “Apple Account” on its software platforms and websites like iCloud.com back this year, and now Bloomberg's Mark Gurman has confirmed it . edit.

In his Power On newsletter today, Gourmet said the new “Apple Account” branding will begin to be used later this year both online and in Apple's next major software releases, such as iOS 18 for iPhone and watchOS 11 for Apple Watch.

Apple already refers to funds added to an Apple ID as “Apple Account Balance,” and Gurman said the company has an “Apple Account” team. With a complete rebrand later this year, the Apple ID term is expected to be phased out entirely, more than two decades after the company began using it. The reasons for Apple's decision are unknown, but “Apple Account” will be simpler branding.

Apple will unveil iOS 18 and other major software updates at its WWDC developer conference in June, as well as a rebranding to Then most likely “Apple Account” will be announced. The updates should be widely released in September.
