Apple today introduced a new beta firmware update for AirPods Pro 2, both USB-C and Lightning versions. The new firmware is version 6E188, an improved version of the previous firmware 6B34 released in December.
Apple doesn't often provide details or notes about what features might be included in the updated firmware, so it's unclear what's new. Please note that this software is currently only available to developers.
There are no clear instructions for updating the AirPods software, but the firmware is usually installed “over-the-air” when the AirPods are connected to an iOS device. Place the AirPods into the case, connect the AirPods to a power source, and then pair the AirPods your iOS or Mac device should force the update.
You can check the AirPods Pro firmware by following these steps:
- Connect your AirPods Pro to your iOS device.
- Open the Settings app.
- Tap General.
- Click About.
- Click AirPods.
- Look at the number next to “Firmware Version.”
If we Find out more We'll update this article about what's new in the firmware update.
