Apple customers who use Apple Pay to purchase items at retail stores are initiating a donation to the Global Fund as part of a campaign to raise money ahead of World AIDS Day.

Apple marks World AIDS Day every December 1 by featuring (PRODUCT)RED displays and promoting related books. In addition to these efforts, Apple is also running a donation campaign based on customer purchases.

From November 29 to December 8, Apple will donate $5 for purchases made with Apple Pay on its website, Apple Stores, and the Apple Store app. Donations are capped at $3 million for 2024, tripling the 2023 cap.

Donations will go to the Global Fund, which fights HIV, tuberculosis, and malaria around the world. Since 2002, the Global Fund has saved nearly 65 million lives and distributed more than $65 billion in funding.

Apple has been partnering with the Global Fund for 18 years through PRODUCT(RED), with proceeds from products using the color going to the Global Fund. In 2023, Apple reported raising more than a quarter of a billion dollars for the Global Fund through the initiative.

While Apple Pay transactions and PRODUCT(RED) purchases are the primary ways Apple supports the fight against AIDS, it can sometimes include other elements. In 2023, proceeds from select games were also donated.
