Google Maps uses Gemini, and the AI service now identifies the places in the iPhone screen.
Like other navigation tools, Google Maps allows users to create lists of locations, which makes it useful for long trips and leave. However, with a new update, the application will facilitate the automatic addition of locations, and not do it manually.
originally announced in March, Google Maps for iOS will now include a new list of “screen” on the You tab. This list will be an automatically filled with a collection of locations obtained in screenshots.
The idea is based on the principle that people often take screen pictures of web pages for subsequent links, and not in handmade.
As the Google blog explains, Google Maps will use AI Google Gemini to scan shielded images taken on the iPhone for location information. If the place is located, usually including some kind of text for the search, which opens the location, it will be added to the screen list.
Functionality will not be immediately available to users, since they must first choose to try the function. They are also asked to agree with the system request to allow Google Maps access to photos.
If the Maps recognizes the place, it will appear that there are places that are ready for consideration in the list. Then users can choose which images and locations will be added to the list, and become viewed mainly by the card.
If users do not agree to provide access through a system request, they can also load screenshots into the list manually.
The update is gradually revealed to users from Thursday, starting with those who use the iPhone in American English.
